Caroline was born in 1861. At present it is unclear whether Henrietta Klabunde Labs is her mother, as it appears Henrietta and Caroline's father, Ferdinand, married in 1867, by which time Caroline was 6 years old.
She immigrated to Nebraska as a teenager, together with her parents and siblings, and in 1880 married another immigrant from Neustettin, August Prochnow. She bore 8 children, one of which has yet to be identified. Her first baby died as a 7-week-old infant the day before she and August celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Two other children also died as babies and her daughter Albertina (Tena) died of illness (maybe tuberculosis?) as a young woman.
She was widowed a few months after she and August celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She remained on the family farm with her daughter, Anna, and husband, until her death 10 years later.
