Biography

Charles Laberge was baptized on 6 Oct 1785 in Saint-Joachim parish in Chateauguay, Province de Québec. He was the son of Pierre Laberge and his second wife Catherine Josephte Lepage. Godparents at Charles' baptism were Charles Laberge and Marie Claire Maranda. At age 24 Charles married first wife Claire Chevrefils on 2 Jul 1810 in Saint-Joachim parish in Chateauguay, Bas-Canada. There were six known children born into this marriage: Pierre, Claire, Charles, Henriette Marie Adeline, and Julie. Claire died at age 31 on 11 Aug 1821. At age 41 Charles married Marie Josephte Boursier on 27 Nov 1826 in Saint-Joachim parish in Chateauguay. There were seven known children born into this marriage: Jean Baptiste, Marie Elise, Narcisse, Moÿse, Noe, Philomène, and Caroline. Charles died at age 80 on 14 Aug 1866 in Chateauguay; he was buried two days later on 16 Aug in Saint-Joachim parish cemetery.
