Biography

Henry Cunred was born February 16, 1688, in Germantown, Colony of Pennsylvania. He is the son of Thones Kunders and Elin Streypers.

Henry married Katharine Streypers around 1710. [1]

Henry Cunred died around 1758.

A nice bio can be found at Kunders and Conard Family History web site.

Name

In his father's will, Henry is mentioned as Henry Cunrads. The father used the name of Dennis Cunrads and Dennis Kunders, so there is some laxity in how the surname was used/spelled. It appears that Henry's brothers spelled their surname differently. A facsimile of Henry's signature shows the surname as Cunreds. In keeping with Wikitree guidelines, this profile uses the LNAB of Kunders in accordance with the father's surname, and Current Name of Cunrad in accordance as to how referred to himself in his Will.

Birth

February 16, 1688 - was born at Germantown on "12th mo. 16, 1688." Because the calendar used in this time period was Julian, 12th month is February (not December, as it would be in the Gregorian calendar).

Death

1758 - Henry Cunrad died early in the month of September. 175S. His wife had doubtless died before. His will is dated September 2. 175S. and states that he was "Weak in Body". As his will was proven on the 12th of the same month, he lived only a day or so after signing it. Assume that he died about 5 September, and not on the date that the will was proven.

Notes

  • Dates: Quakers didn't use the names of months, just the numbers (7 8m 1742 for example), and until 1752, "8m" would have been October, not August, since the year started in March (1m). Tips
  • US Federal Census did not start until 1790 which is after Henry died, so there are no US Census records.
