(The Tribune-Democrat January 27, 2017 section D page 7) KRING---James H., 96, New Paris, formerly of Johnstown, passed away Jan. 27, 2017, at Colonial Courtyard, Bedford. Born Dec. 10, 1920, in Wilmore, Pa., son of Maurice Sr. and Adelia (Storey) Kring. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, Virginia (Wintermute); second wife, Charlotte (McCoy); infant daughter, Candice June; brothers, Maurice Jr., George and Ed; and sisters, Odessa Hazel, Anna Kring and Ethel Runyeon. Survived by children, Cheryl Kring Grabe, married to Dr. George H., of Plainfield, N.H.; Brian Kring; and Randall G., married to Kay (McCreary), of New Paris; grandchildren, Hilary J. Grabe, Dr. Amelia Grabe Lane, Jacob (Dana) and Alex Kring and Lindsey Kring; great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Gabrielle Wheeler, Daviney and Marina Lane; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was of the United Methodist faith. Graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a Navy veteran officer, having served on Elizabeth C. Stanton Ship during World War II, attended Cornell University and after the war he graduated from Penn State University. James was an architect in Johnstown, where he designed commercial and residential buildings in the tri state area. He was a master woodworker and furniture maker. After retirement, he designed and built three homes for himself. His artistic tough was appreciated my many. Former Rotary member. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Richard Reed.
