Greetings Poland Project member! Thank you for your interest in the Poland Project. We have new information and updates:
  • The Poland Project is a collaborative environment for others to preserve their family history. For the last several months, the Poland Project has been undergoing new organization with new volunteers. We are excited about how the project can enhance Wikitree!
  • We have several different task teams that need volunteers. Please take a look at this page to see which one interests you: Volunteer Tasks. Once you have decided which task team you would like to work on, please reply to this comment.
  • The only requirements for ongoing membership in the Poland Project are that you join a team, work with your Team Leader, respond to the periodic check-ins from the Project Leaders/Coordinators and help the Project satisfy its goals. We recognize that people lead busy lives and are grateful for any and all contributions you can make.
  • Once you have joined a team, please join the Poland Project Google Group to receive project updates and participate in project and team discussions.
  • If we don’t hear from you in the next 45 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended as you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help researching your Polish ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Poland_Europe or Polska in order for our knowledgeable researchers to see them.

My dear mentor,

Success! I corrected an inaccurate date in the life information section and it is now working as it should. I was, after all, getting an error message that I kept ignoring. Won't do that again! Many, many thanks! Mike

What is Joseph Kolb's Wikitree ID number?
posted by SJ Baty
I was able to find his biography and I made a test edit and it seems to work OK. Make sure that you're signed in when you're trying to edit that profile.
posted by SJ Baty
His number, as you now know, is Kolb-612.

I tried again with no luck. Entered the information and references, hit the save button, went to the Public View: no changes. Hate to keep bothering you with this but it is quite frustrating. Mike

It looks like the change took:

27 Aug 2020 16:26: Michael Kolb edited the Biography for Jakob Josef Kolb (1821-1900). [Thank Michael for this] 15:43: Michael Kolb replied to a comment on the page for Michael Kolb [Thank Michael for this]

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Kolb-611&diff=110107430&oldid=108944090

If you don't see the change on his biography then you can try refreshing the page (Shft+F5) and it should purge the old view from the cookies.

Hate to be a bother. As you point out, I had no problem adding information to Jakob Kolb (Kolb-611). It is his father (Kolb-612) that keeps frustrating me by not changing it when I edit.
posted by Michael Kolb
Ah, I see now. I was able to make change to it last night. Please try refreshing your browser, log out, log back in and give another try.

Hi Michael

You received a message a couple of weeks ago about the new-look Global Cemeteries Project but we have not yet heard back from you. If you would like to continue in the project, please can you PM me your team(s) selections and your e-mail address for the Google group.

If I don’t hear back from you by this time next week I’ll assume you no longer wish to be in the project at this time.

Many thanks,

Project Coordinator for Membership Global Cemeteries Project

Hi Michael,

We’ve made some exciting changes to the Global Cemeteries Project. The sub-projects have been merged into the Global Project to help with Leadership and to facilitate collaboration.

Some roles within the project have changed. From now on, there are Project Coordinators for each continent, and one for Welcome and Integration, plus Team Leaders for each individual Country etc.

Please let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project, if you’d like to continue in an existing role, and which team(s) you’d like to be on. Please also give me your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi Michael, thanks for your interest in the Global Cemeteries Project! I've forwarded the email you sent me to Paul Bech, the leader of our Australia/Oceania subproject, to see if he can help you get started. If you haven't heard from him in a few days, let me know and I'll get you signed up and ready to go. I'll go ahead and award you a Cemeterist badge today to get your new year off to a good start! Cheers!

Hello,

Thank you for joining WikiTree. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having. How is your experience with Wikitree going? Our G2G Forum is searchable or you can post a question there.

The Help Index is also an important place to find how to do most tasks.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

PS: There is a new Irish project that recently was started. Billy and Terry are heading that up, and Billy is fantastic at finding resources. I haven't checked it out, but we work together on the Clan project, so first hand.

Go to the top right, and select the link FIND, and then from the drop down box PROJECTS. Reach out to him or go to the project page...odds are they have links there for resources!  :) Might consider joining too, doesn't cost you anything LOL and with those two it's going to be great!  :) Nae

Hi Michael. Welcome to Wiki Tree. Adding second, third, etc marriages. If you go into the EDIT tab of a profile...on the right will be father, mother, siblings, spouses, children.

Select the add/remove link and you can add a second, or tenth marriage there. Where it get's a little difficult, is if it is a woman, and she married multiple times and had children with each spouse (in a culture where it was common for her to take her spouse's name). Right now, I try and put the most "significant" name as current last name as our other last name field is not "searchable" at this time n(working on that...it's on the list anyways). By significant, the name you think would be searched for most...Let me know if you need any help or if you have any questions.  :) Nae

I have begun a second career as a graduate student in Northeast India Studies after being a teacher in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for several years. We have been trying to document the family tree for some years, and want to continue the process.

The Kolb side of the family comes from Kapfelberg, Bavaria in the mid 1800's. The my mother's Kurth family is German, but we know little beyond that (excpet on of my great uncles was Joe Kurth, All-American at Notre Dame in the early 30's. My maternal grandmother was a Phalen/Phelan, from Ireland, obviously. Hope we can add our tail of these families to the mission of this great project.

Hi Michael,

Welcome as a guest to WikiTree! We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile for every person.

A couple suggestions to get you started:

1. Our Honor Code is a very important part of why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree so please take some time to read it.

2. Feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum.

3. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information.

If you would like to contribute, leave a comment in the box on the left and click the volunteer link and to let our greeters know. You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.

Good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree :)
