I’ve not heard back from you regarding the 1776 Project check-in so have gone ahead and removed you from the project for now.

If you’d like to rejoin at any stage you would be most welcome to do so by answering the G2G sign-up post here

Many thanks,

Betty -- 1776 Project Leader

Hi,

I sent you a check-in message several days ago about the 1776 Project to ask you about your past and continued involvement but have not yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the project?

If I don’t hear from you in a week or so, I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things, but you’re most welcome to re-join the project at any time.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Best wishes,

Betty -- 1776 Project Leader

Greetings from the 1776 Project . . .

We're doing our semi-annual check-in to ask whether you have made contributions to the project in the last six months?

Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the 1776 Project that you respond to this check-in. Please post your response as a reply to this message on your page, for convenience of record keeping.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hello,

I am checking in on behalf of the 1776 Project to announce the new project membership requirements and to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. All project members are being asked to join one of the project teams and also to make at least one project contribution every 6 months. We are also asking all project members to join the project's Google Group for project communications.

If you are interested in remaining with the Project, please reply to this comment or send me a message, request to join the Google Group, and let us know what team you would like to participate on.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

According to Stocking Vol 2, page 419-420, the John C Knowlton/Celia Calkins family is listed. They are my great grandparents. There is an error. I have no idea of Fayette being in the family. The birth date, 14 May 1867 belongs to my grandfather, William McSparren Knowlton. He died in Buffalo NY on 21 Jul 1949. He married Mary Agnes Droney 27 Apr 1903. I can provide more information if needed.

Hi, Sam!

We are related, according to the relationship finder. I also took the 23 and me DNA test but am unsure how we compare our DNA. My name is Sharon Cosby on 23 and me. Take care! Sharon

I completed the Rice Knowlton merge you requested. Merged profile is Knowlton-114.

Hi! I think the Disproven Existence Project is fully up & running now. I was giving the text on WikiTree-52 a test run & found what I think is a duplicate for William Knowlton's wife Ann (Unknown). It's for Ann Elizabeth Smith, & I'm thinking the fuller name might be the better one to keep - if it's out there, others might find her easier her (as disproven) if we go with Smith instead of Unknown for LNAB.

Anyway, could you take a look & let me know your thoughts? See my comment with the merge proposal - on the Smith profile.

Thanks!

I have started a G2G thread on this question here:

https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/442190/minor-false-ancestor-vs-merge?show=442211#c442211

I agree that there is a case to be made for leaving "scarecrows" for bad profiles but I don't know that this particular one warrants it; and even so, he is clearly a phantom version of Kimball-297, and the judgment being requested here is whether they represent the same person, not what the best practices are for minimizing cruft. Could you weigh in on the thread so that some more consistent convention can be established?

posted by Samuel Knowlton
Knowlton-352 and Kimball-297 do not represent the same person because: Sorry for rejecting your proposal but it's better practice to keep the profile for the non existent person with the warning on it. Otherwise someone will come along with a cruddy gedcom and recreate him without the warning information.

It appears that we were both cleaning up the profile post merge and tripping over each other :-).

Thanks for your help in straightening this profile out!
