Charles E. Kline was born in November 1909 in Beavertown, Snyder County, Pennsylvania.[1] His parents were Harry Clayton Kline (1881–1959) and Harriett "Hattie" S. Walter (1881–1925). In 1910 when he was just a baby, the family was living in Derry Township, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania where his father was a teamster in a coal yard.[2] Ten years later they had a farm in Buffalo Township, Union County, Pennsylvania.[3] Charles had an eighth grade education.[4]
In April 1930 at age 20 he was still in Buffalo Township, but was now living on the Harold Benner farm, working odd jobs and farm labor.[5]
He married Martha V. Aikey (1913–1999) in December 1930.[6] They lived in Lewisburg, Union County throughout most of their marriage. Their children included:
Early in their marriage he worked at D&G Mills on 5th Street in Lewisburg. They made small animal feeds and flour.[7], [4], [8]
Later he was employed at Pennsylvania House Furniture Company in Lewisburg. He was also a volunteer with the William Cameron Engine Company (fire department) in Lewisburg.[9]
Charles passed away in May 1980 at age 70.[10] He was buried in Lewisburg Cemetery, Lewisburg, Union County (Plot: Section 3C, Plot 1661).[11]
