Norman Jack "Dusty" was born 7 Mar 1916 and passed away 22 Apr 2016. He is buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. [1]
Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Kleiss was one of the heroes of the Battle of Midway in June 1942 and is credited with the destruction of two Japanese aircraft carries, the Kaga and the Hiryu, and the Japanese cruiser Mikuma. For his actions in 1942 he was twice awarded the Navy Cross.
