Son of Jacob Kissinger and Mary Nosler.

Husband of Susana Brassfield. Marriage Records of Grundy Co., MO 1841-1864 Comp. Elizabeth Prather Ellsberry. Book A: James L. Kisinger to Susan Brassfield p. 18. Effie Kirk genealogy, however, says groom's name was Thompson Kissinger. ^[1]

Father of Thomas Kissinger, born 16 Nov 1856 in Missouri.

Susana Brassfield Kissinger is not found with Thompson Kissinger and his 3-year-old son Thomas in the 1860 Census for Liberty Township, Grundy, Missouri. It is presumed she died between the birth of Thomas in 1856 and 1860.

1850 Census, Carroll Twp., Platte Co., MO gives James Kissinger, age 15, b. IN in family of Jacob Kisinger & Mary Nosler. Stamped page 415. Thomson Kissinger, however, is in the family of Jacob Kissinger and wife Ann in the same township. Thomson was b. in Tennessee (not Indiana) ca. 1837. stamped page 409^[2]

1860 Census, Liberty Twp., Grundy Co., MO p. 418 gives age of Jacob Kissinger as 66. Also in household is Mary Kissinger age 66 b. VA, Thompson Kissinger age 25 b. Iowa, Thomas Kissinger age 3 b. Missouri, and Catharine Cummins age 65 b. VA^[3]

1870 Census, Liberty Twp., Grundy Co., MO p. 9, stamped page 308: Thomas Kissinger age 34 is living in the household of Reuben and Lucinda Brassfield. Thomas b. Indiana cannot read or write. Reuben Brassfield age 67; Lucinda age 51 (she cannot read or write), both born TN; children J. E. A. (male) age 22, Sarah W. age 18; R. C. (male) age 15; Joseph E. age 11, Lucinda, age 6; all Brassfield children b. MO.^[4]

James T. Kessinger d. 9 Apr 1914 private Co. B 23rd MO Inf. Transferred from Knoxville, TN payable to Maggie Satterfield. I am not sure whether this is the correct James T. Kissinger.
