Name: Ronald Lynn Kirkland

^[1] While Ronald was born in Rhode Island he spent much of his youth Cris-Crossing the country as a "navy brat"; living in Texas, California,^[2] and Washington state; always returning at various times to his home state of Rhode Island. During the Viet Nam Era he joined the US Air Force and served as part of the Air Defense Command stationed at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine; this along with temporary duty at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska.

Ronald's civilian career in building and overhauling nuclear submarines spanned 44 years at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division, Groton Connecticut. His first 14 years as an installation and maintenance technician specializing in reactor plant components. Progressing from there, he spent 20 years as a Nuclear Quality Control Inspector focusing on the Piping and Mechanical disciplines; ultimately becoming a working-leader and NQC Training Instructor. He closed his career as a full time Nuclear Trades Training Instructor; developing lesson plans and training Electric Boat and selected Navy "valve cutters" to perform overhaul and maintenance on Reactor Plant Systems and components before retiring in October of 2009.

Ronald married Ruth (Burris) Kirkland 17 Sept 1977 in Plainfield, Windham, Connecticut.^[3] Ronald and Ruth raised their four children in Brooklyn, Connecticut; Jessica (Kirkland) Gordon, Timothy Paul Kirkland, Rebekah Dawn (Kirkland) Walters, and Sarah Beth (Kirkland) Boucher.^[4][5]

At his retirement near the end of 2009 Ronald and Ruth moved South to Harvest, Alabama.
