Biography

Most of what we know about Roswell comes from his will, written 1803,available online but hard to read. The important facts are summarized by Doherty. He had nine children, all named in his will: Henry Ann Prisella Tryfenny Roswell Louise Rosabela Mary Jemima

We have his birth record, born 4 May 1737, son of Stephen and Prisillah, in Preston, Connecticut. Baptized 19 Jun 1737 in Griswold, which is 10 miles north of Preston. He moved to Amenia, Duchess County, New York before 1762 and is buried there (see Doherty), in the Separate Church Grounds, Millbrook. A biographical sketch of Roswell and his Kinne predecessors appears in Robertson, 1947.

One interesting fact from his will is he apparently owned considerable acreage in, quote,"Larkwashe (Lackawanna? Purchase" that was bequeathed to his children. This might be worth further investigation.
