Biography

This profile is part of the Kingsman Name Study.

Henry was born in 1832. He was the son of William Kingsman and Mary Tyler.

He was baptised 6 Dec 1832 at St Sepulchre, Holborn [1]

Henry married Jane Delley on the 4th May 1856 at St. Giles Cripplegate after Banns. [2]Henry was 23 years old and gave his profession as an Ivory Turner. Jane was also 23 year old and had no profession. Henry gave his address as 3 Castle Court, Cripplegate, Jane as 2 Castle Court.

Henry's father is noted as William, also an Ivory turner.
Jane's father is noted as George, a Comb Maker.
Both signed their own names.
The witnesses were William Kingsman (Henry's elder brother?) and Maria Marshall.

Jane [Delley] Kingsman died in 1869 in Camberwell, Surrey [3]

Henry Kingsman married Margaret Johnston on the 10th November 1872 at All Saints Church, Newington. [4] Henry is shown as being a 40 year old widower, son of William Kingsman - both being Ivory Turners. Henry's address was 10 Sedan Street, Walworth Common. Margaret was only 22 years old, a spinster, living at 10 Thomas Street, Kennington. Her father was Robert Johnston, a book binder. The witnesses were Robert Johnston and Jane Johnston.

Henry Kingsman died aged 66 on the 8th August 1899 at 58 Earl Road, off the Old Kent Road. Cause of death was attributed to acute diarrhoea and vomiting (6 days) and Suppression of lungs (2 days). His son Albert was present at the death and registered it on the same day. [5]
