Descendant
Descendant of PGM Migrant Henry Kingman.

Josiah was born in 1713 to John Kingman and Bethiah Newcomb.[1][2]

Josiah Kingman married Mary Williams in 1737.[1][3] They had the following children:[1][4]

  1. Josiah, born May 17, 1740.
  2. Molly, born Sept. 7, 1742 ; married Frederick Pope of Stoughton.
  3. Edward, born Oct. 8, 1744 ; married Sarah Newcomb of Norton.
  4. Benjamin, born Dec. 25, 1746 ; married Martha Randall of Easton.
  5. Martha, born March 16, 1750; married Ebenezer Robinson of Dorchester.

This family settled in East Bridgewater, and afterwards in Easton, Mass. Mr. Kingman was licensed to keep an "Inn" or house of entertainment on the old "Bay Road" in Easton, not far from and northeast of the late Ebenezer Randall's house. This house obtained some notoriety. It was one in which Washington stopped while on his route from Boston to New York. His widow continued the same for a time after Josiah's death in 1759. She died 1803, aged 85 years. [1]
