Biography

This profile is part of the Kingman Name Study.

John Kingman, the son of Thomas Kingman and Mercy Randall was born July 24, 1702 at Weymouth, Massachusetts.

John married, 27 February, 1726/27, Hannah Tirrell, daughter of Gideon and Hannah (Kingman) Tirrell of Weymouth. Hannah died at Weymouth 12 June, 1761.[1][2]

John entered his intention at Weymouth, 17 July, 1762 with Tabitha (Pratt) Cushing, widow of Thomas Cushing and daughter of Samuel and Abigail (Humphrey) Pratt. Tabitha was born at Weymouth 3, January 1725, and died there 25 November, 1804, a widow.[1]

John made his will 3 February, 1784. It was probated 4 May, 1784. To his wife Tabitha, he gave the use of one-third of his estate. To his daughter Sarah, wife of Micah Hunt, he gave ten acres at the upper end of the pasture adjoining the land of the heirs of Ebenezer Bolter, deceased. To his daughter Mariam White, 26 pounds 13 shillings and 4 pence. To his son Ebenezer Kingman, the remainder. From Suffolk Probate Records, 83: 445.[1]

  • Sarah, b. 6 or 26 November 1727; m. 8 March 1746/47, Micah Hunt of Weymouth.
  • Miriam, b. 2 October, 1729; m. 11 January 1749, James White of Weymouth.
  • Ebenezer, b. 28 November, 1731; killed by a runaway horse at muster, 18 October, 1754.
  • John, b. 15 March 1736; d. 1 June, 1738.
  • Hannah, b. 17 November, 1738.
  • Silence, b. 2 July, 1741; d. 30 July, 1751.

Children born at Weymouth by second wife, Tabitha (Pratt) Cushing:[3]

  • Ebenezer, b. 12 January, 1764.
