Arrived from the UK in 1863, on the Lincolnshire with his wife Mary.[2] He went gold Prospecting for 2 Years in Gold Diggings at Woods Point, Victoria, Australia, then went back to his occupation of Straw Hat Making in Ballarat for 12 Years and then after selecting 320 Acres in the Shire of Kotupna near Ballarat, Victoria, Australia in 1879 carried on General Farming.
