Biography

In Alice (Kinge) Baldwin's will, sister to Marie/Mary (Kinge) Montague, in addition to leaving a bequest to her brother "Thomas King" and his son "William," she leaves bequests to the children of her brother "Robert King" and to her sister "Maria Montague."^[1]

Note that the surname is spelled King in these bequests. This information was annotated by Charles Candee Baldwin in his Baldwin Genealogy (1881), with his spelling of the surname King. Other actual writings spell the surname "Kinge". Mary (Kinge) Montague's first name in the bequest uses the Latin "Maria" which can add to confusion.

This "Maria Montague" (Kinge-21) would be the same "Mary (King) Montagu" in the King-9088 profile. Carol Baldwin has suggested a merge using Marie (Kinge) Montague to be consistent with Kinge surname of father and siblings, and Marie and Montague as indicated in the source. Mary and King could be listed as alternate spellings. The bequest also indicates a brother "Robert", but is not listed with the siblings. There is a brother, John, listed with the siblings in the profile; however, there is no evidence of a brother (or half brother) named John. I would detach 'John' until there is further evidence.
