Biography
Viola King Harper, 89, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at Russellville Hospital.
Mrs. Harper was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and member of Isbell United Methodist Church. She was church treasurer for about 30 years, Sunday school teacher, and youth leader. She also was a PTA member at the Rockwood School.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Dr. Leroy Tidwell, Rev. Mark Woodruff and Rev. Martha Hauer officiating. Burial was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
She is survived by son, George William Harper and wife, Linda; grandson, George William "Will" Harper, Jr.; granddaughter, Jill Harper Andrews and husband, Joel; sister, Mary King Tullis, of Phil Campbell; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Bragwell, Kenneth Smith, Charles Hipp, James "Bub" Harris, Jamie Harris and Jon Harris.
She was preceded in death by husband of 67 years, William Cecil Harper; parents, William Joseph and Alma Sloan King; sisters, Blue Bell Allen, Annie Walker, Pearl Whitfield, Ethel Byrd; brothers, William Edward (Buddy) King, Webster King, Lawrence King and Johnny Vick King.[1]
