Biography

John Edwards King was born December 21, 1757 in Stafford County, Virginia. He was the son of William King and Elizabeth Edwards. He married Sarah Clifton on May 11, 1791. [1][2] John Edwards King died on May 13, 1828 in Burkesville, Cumberland, Kentucky.[3] [4]

MILITARY NOTE

Removed DAR/SAR/1776 designations. It is unlikely that John Edwards King fought in the Revolutionary War. The Private John King mentioned in Goode King Feldhauser's book actually referred to a different John King, the older brother of John Edwards King. [5].

However, JEK was a Brigadier General in the War of 1812. [6][7][8]

Possible Military Service (See Note Above)

Private, Stafford County Militia, 3rd. Virginia Regiment; discharged at Valley Forge, Feb 16, 1776[9]

Also fought at King's Mountain, at 23 years old. "Displayed so much daring and initiative in action as to call forth the praise of his general." [10]
