William was born about 1837. He passed away after 1859.

Slave Owner

He was a slave held by James King (1796-1859) and after his death, his estate. He was among a group of slaves sold at auction before the courthouse in Columbia, Missouri, on January 2, 1860, for the purpose of distributing the proceeds from the sale among the heirs. The names of the slaves to be sold were shown in an inventory published on December 23, 1859 (below).
