Biography

Susan was born in 1841. She was the daughter of James King and Matilda Sorrels. She passed away in 1917. Susan married Elbert Payne on Nov. 16, 1869. In 1870, Lawrence Co., Ms. she was listed as Susan Payne age 28, with children, Sarah King age 8, Joseph King age 3, Mahala J. King age 2, and Samuel King age 6/12. They were living next door to Hiram Lambert and his wife Martha Jane (King), sister of Susan King Payne.

In 1880 Lawrence Co., Ms. Susan King age 38, and her children; Joseph King age 13, Mahala King age 12, James S. King, age 10, Erastus King age 8, Edgar King age 4, and Major King age 2, were living in the household with Hiram Lambert and wife Martha J. and their son, John B. age 23.

Susan King married Hiram Lambert (her brother-in-law) on July 2, 1889 in Catahoula Parish, La.

Susan died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. B. Bullock.

When John Bayham Lambert, son of Hiram Lambert and Martha Jane King died, his obit listed surviving half-brothers; J. M. King of Jena, La. and E. R. King of Natchez, Ms. Also one half-sister, Mrs. L. B. Bullock.
