Reuben was born about 1812, in Henry County, Virginia.
In about 1844 in Henry, he married Jane Putzel. They had the following known children.
- Louisa King b. abt. 1847 - d. 1922, m. Nicholas Hairston
- John King b. 1848 - d. 1927, m. Polly Ann Preston
- Reuben King b. abt. 1849 - d. 1928, m1/wid. Malinda Hairston, m2. Minnie Woody
- Clay King b. abt. 1851
It is unknown when he passed other than is assumed after the 1866 cohabitation record and prior to the 1870 census.
