Biography

Sarah, heiress to the Dolmage fortune, married Rhys Davies Powell (1801-1862) of Brecknock, Wales.^[1] The Morning Chronicle of 26 May 1834 reports :

MARRIED - On the 21st inst., at Walcot Church, Bath, by the Rev. Charles Paul, Rice Davies Powell, Esq., only son of William Powell, Esq., of Cadoxton-place, in the county of Glamorgan, to Sarah Dolmage, only daughter of William Brooks King, Esq., of the Island of Jamaica, and granddaughter of the late Adam Dolmage, Esq., of Beaufort House, Bath. ^[2]

Sarah and Rhys made their home at Craig-y-Nos Castle, in Brecnock, and were the parents of :

Sarah died on 23 Jul 1853, two days after giving birth to a daughter who survived only a few hours. ^[3]
