Note HI28(Research):SHADRACK-born in ca. 1780`s(one source lists 1781) married ELIZABETH WELLS(b. 1792, dau. of RICHARD WELLS of Frederick County, Maryland). Information states they had 14 children, but the only ones verified are: Elizabeth, Charlotte, Thomas, Nancy, John Wells, Osee, Mahala, that survived to Adults and had families.
From Franklin Twp History.
Franklin Township was established on March 4, 1822. Early Settlements in this area were made by Frederick Crow, David Sutherland, William Wilson, Thomas Martin, William Bonar, woodman Okey. Other settlers included the families of Carmichael, McVay, Holden, Hale, Dearth and Wells.
There were five post offices at various times in Franklin Townships: Cottageville, Jerles, Stafford, Sprague and Swazey.
Stafford was laid out on April 14, 1838 by John Jones. The town was originally named Bethel and was renamed Stafford in 1845 by William Steel.
The Swazey area was settled in the 1820's. Early settlers included Frederic Crow, Uriah Bean, Joseph Hines, Edward Reed, Woodman Okey, Rev. John Graham and James Young. The town was first named Reed and was later called Swazey after the school and the church which had been named in honor of Rev. John Swazey. Other settlers in the early years were George and John Reed, Richard Gibson, Shadrick King, William Morris, Solomon Forshey, John Antle, John B Kean and William Casey.

Farther down the valley a Mr. Wells, from Virginia, bought land on which he settled his sons -in-laws, Shadrick King, William Morris, and Solomon Forshey.
