Son of John Sidney King and Matilda McGhee
Married Maggie McGhee on November 24, 1884 in Raleigh, Wake County, NC
He and his wife and children lived on their farm which is now part of William B. Umstead State Park in Raleigh, NC.
Moses & Magnolia (Maggie) died close together in 1899 of typhoid. Their home was close to a Spanish-American War base in western Wake County, NC and speculation is that soldiers from the war brought back the fever and caused a local epidemic. Source: Living niece Frances King (92yrs old). A great grandson who lives in the area has spent countless hours searching cemeteries and records but their burial place has yet to be found.
Their young children were subsequently split-up and placed with relatives.
