Alexander was born in 1870, the son of Alexander Brodie King (1840-1926) and Harriett Gregg (1843-1921). [1]
In 1889, in Victoria, he married Alice Lazenby Gibbon (1862-1931). [2]
Alice died in 1931, and Alexander died by suicide in 1932, aged 62. [3]
There was an inquest into Alexander's death, which proved that he died from Asphysia, which was wilfully self inflicted by inhaling carbon monoxide in coal (household) gas. Living with him at time of death was his sister-in-law Florence Lavinia King, the wife of Walter Litchfield King. Apparently he committed suicide because he couldn't live without his wife after her death, but while she was alive he abused her, according to Jean O'Bree.
Interesting to note that he chose his birthday to do this terrible deed.
