Ada Alice King was born on the 1st September 1915, in Stepney, London, England, the eldest known child of Henry King and Amelia Simpson née Burt, with her birth being registered in the 4th Quarter at Stepney,[1] and was baptised on the 19th September the same year, at St Anne, Limehouse.[2] (With her father's name being rendered as "Edward", instead of Henry, it is possible her parents were attempting to hide that they were not, yet, legally married (their marriage was registered in 1918), or that – for reasons of his own – Henry used the name Edward on that day.)
On the 29th September 1939, Ada Alice (23), a Bag Machinist (Heavy Work), was living with her family at 111 John Scurr House, Stepney. Those home at the time were her father: Henry (52), a Greaser on the SS Lombardy; her mother: Amelia (52), "Unpaid Domestic Duties"; and her siblings: Amelia Elizabeth (22), a fancy-box maker; Frances Annie Alice (19), not employed outside the home; Fitzherbert John (17), Engineering Trade, and Doris Mary (16).[3]
Ada Alice King, having never married, and with no known children, passed away in 1985, aged 70 years, her death being registered in the 2nd Quarter at Tower Hamlets, London, England.[4]
