Daniel Ernest King was born on 19 April 1894 in Korong Vale, Victoria, Australia, the son of Lucy (Middleton) King and George King.^{[citation needed]}

He married Lillian Alice Waldren in 1916 in Victoria.^[1] Their children were:

• Leslie Ernest King (1916–1916)^[2]
• Florence Joyce King (1919 –)^[3]
• Margaret Lillian King (1921–1998)^[4]

Daniel died on 24 March 1971 in Footscray, Victoria, aged 76 years.^[5]
