Biography

Robert King (Jr?) was born in 1785, in Pasquotank, North Carolina. Robert migrated to what is now Cannon county, Tennessee:

  • Sumner County, Tennessee. Smith and Wilson Counties were established 26 October 1799 from Sumner County. Early records may be found under Sumner County. Cannon County was established on January 31, 1836, when the state legislature took portions of Rutherford, Smith, and Warren Counties to create the new county of Cannon, named in honor of Whig Governor Newton Cannon.

Robert King's home was on Sycamore Creek, on a small creek called the King Branch. His farm included all the land on the entire branch around the meanders of the ridges on either side of the branch, including nine hundred acres in all. [1]

On March 2, 1812, in Wilson county, Tennessee, Robert married Lydia Keeton aka Keaton born circa 1790, in Patrick county, Virginia, a daughter of Zachariah James "Jack" Keaton and Susan Elizabeth Adams. [2] Children of Robert and Lydia include:

  • William "Bill" King, born circa 1812, in Wilson county, Tennessee, died in June, 1875, in Hawkins county, Tennessee, married Nancy Kelley, a daughter of William "Jake" Kelly and [Dellornan] "Morning" Keaton
  • Lydia P. "Lidy" King, married Joel A. Knight, on December 28, 1871 in Cannon county, Tennessee

Lydia (Keaton) King died circa 1875, in Wilson county, Tennessee. [3]

When Robert Anthony King was born on April 21, 1784, in Pasquotank, North Carolina, his father, William, was 35. He had one son with Lyda or Lydia Keaton in 1814. He died on June 6, 1863, in Sequatchie, Tennessee, having lived a long life of 79 years
