Research Notes

This Pittsylvania King family has many difficulties. William's census records show only 3 sons, Elijah D., John and Isaac H. one other is attached to this couple marked "uncertain" for lack of another place to show him. William King, age 33, is buried in the nearby Akers cemetery. He may have been married to an Akers; that family had other King connections. Coleman King, born in Pittsylvania, married in Indiana, is buried in the King cemetery with Isaac King in Iowa.

William could also be a son of John King and Anna Terry of Pittsylvania Co. John and Anna did not stay in Virginia. Although still unproved, they are probably the John King family who were among the Virginia migrants to Fayette Co Ohio. This family is in Fayette in the 1820 and 1830 censuses with at least six sons, and in 1840 is in Indiana.

John King was a son of Elijah King and Lavinia Terry of Pittsylvania Co VA.
