Biography

Anna “Barbara” Kissel (1707-1770) was born 17 Apr 1707 in Iggelheim, Germany, and was confirmed there on 28 Feb 1720 at age 12. She came to Pennsylvania with her father, stepmother, and siblings in 1729 at age 22. On 25 Dec 1733 Barbara married Vicenz Staufer (Vincent Stauffer) in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Vincent was born on 24 Aug 1693 in Germany, immigrated to Lititz on 24 Aug 1728, died in Warwick on 4 Mar 1748, and was buried in the Moravian St. James Cemetery in Lititz.[1]

Anna Barbara was named in an Administration Bond as Barbara Stowfer, widow, on 25 Jun 1748 in estate records in the holdings of the Lancaster County Historical Society, and also in the Administrator's Account dated 2 Jun 1760.[2]On 28 Jan 1760 Barbara married her second husband, George Christoph Haller of York, Pennsylvania, who was a widower. Barbara died on 1 May 1770 in York, York County, Pennsylvania.
