PS. Sorry just realised it's you Laurie that is 24 degrees away from Robert The Bruce! Well there you go!

Thanks again Catherine

Hello Laurie,

Thank you for all your research. It certainly makes researching a lot easier for all of us who have been collecting information in recent years. The recent update on Alexander Kidd and his birth is interesting, thank you. When my father was alive (Francis(Frank ) Kidd) whenever he was around his relatives , brother John Brendan, father Jack Kidd and dads nieces and nephew, the initial greeting was 'Wha Hae'. My sister and I were fascinated by this . Dad told me that his father and uncles would call out this when they were in the bush logging trees , hitching bullocks etc. It wasn't until after my fathers passing in 2018 that I saw the words 'Wha hae on a mug. I googled it and it means 'Who have ' in Scottish. I also discovered it is included in a poem 'Scots Wha Hae' by Robert Burns, famous Scottish poet, about the fighting with Robert the Bruce and the English. I believe it is also an unofficial national anthem, a bit like our Waltzing Matilda. Have you Laurie or anyone else heard this greeting/ identification being used by any of your ancestors. I find it most interesting. Considering Alexander Kidd is 24 degrees of separation from Robert Bruce , I like to think in my mind that this has been a 'saying' that has passed down many generations. I know this is not very helpful for the genealogist, but it is an answer to a fascination about an unusual phrase, ringing out in the Mid North Coast of NSW, with origins in Scotland many centuries ago. Best wishes , Catherine Bourne (Nee Kidd).

Hello Laurie, I have already sent a private message to u/her. I wanted to also share with the others, my maiden name is Kidd, 3 generations back from me the Kidds were natives of Alyth Scotland from my understanding. I believe we share unknown Kidd grandparents that were natives of Dundee/Aberdeenshire area of Scotland. I am thinking your Alex and my John Kidd were brothers? My John married Philip and their son was Alex Kidd in Glamis, farming he married Ann MacDonald. Their son John farmed at Eastercraig Glenisla married Dickson. I am fortunate a have a picture of the farm that my grandfather David Dickson Kidd was born 1887 in Scotland, then he went to live in Manitoba Winnipeg Canada worked as a Custom's officer. Most popular names in the Kidd family John, Alexander, James, David, Isabella, Jane, Jannett, Agnes, Jessie, Mary Ann Kidd. Brooke from Oregon
Hello Laurie, could you add dates and places to the profiles attached to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Corkhill-27 and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Evans-6389 or open them for editing? I'm doing some work on Evans family, and I need to rule out a bunch of matches, but I can't tell when, or where, this family is.
