Research Notes

There are multiple unsourced theories about Jeremiah's parentage, each with significant problems:

  1. Several family trees on Ancestry.com [18] and Family Search [19] show Joachim Ketel (1607-) and Anna Douw (1732-) as his parents. While the names and locations are similar, there are several problems with this theory:
a) Anna was born in New Amsterdam and Joachim Ketel immigrated there in 1642, making it implausible for them to have a son born in Germany in 1645.
b) The Ketel Family History [20] lists eight known children of Joachim and Anna. Jeremiah is not listed as one of their children.
  1. Geni.com [21] shows him to be the son of Joachim (Ketel) VonKetel (1550-1589) and Margaret Wessells (1546-1572) and the brother of Anna Ketel, Joachim Ketel, Joachim Ketel, Margarethe Ketel, Margarethe Ketel, Margarethe Ketel, Margarethe Ketel, Katherine Ketel, Katherine Ketel, Ilsabe Ketel, Suttfield Ketel, Dorthea Ketel, Suttfield Ketel, Ilsabe Ketel, Dorthea Ketel, Joachim Ketelhuyn, Joachim Ketelhuyn, Joachim Ketelhuyn, Joachim Ketelhuyn, Jeremy Kittle, Johannes Ketel, Jeremy Kittle, Jeremy Jeremiah Kittle, Johannes Ketel, Johannes Ketel, Jeremy Kittle, Jeremy Kittle, Johannes Ketel, Jeremy Jeremiah Kittle, Jochem Ketel, Jochem Ketel and Jochem Ketel. Problems with this theory:
a) Joachim would have been 93 years old and Margaret over 100 years old when Jeremiah was born.
b) Joachim and Margaret are the grandparents of Joachim Ketel III from the first theory above.
c) The list of Jeremiah's siblings appears to contain multiple generations of the Ketel family.

More research and solid sources are needed before any of these are connected as Jeremiah's parents.

Kittle-44 and Kettel-27 appear to represent the same person because: Both profiles represent the same person, same wives. Suggest that Kettel be LNAB/destination...Kittle is a very poor choice, Jeremy used both Kettel and Kittel during his lifetime for marriage and baptisms. We do not have his baptism from Germany...
