My paternal side is from Hart County Kentucky, before that Pennsylvania (at least some of them). My maternal side all immigrated from Japan in the late 1800s (1880 or later). I have all kinds of leads on the paternal side, but since I do not speak or write Japanese the trail on that side stops cold with the 4 great grandparents that came to Hawaii.

I saw a YouTube video about this and was interested. I have trees on Ancestry but haven't touched them for a while. I also use familysearch which like WikiTree is one worldwide tree, but unlike WikiTree does not have a specific group of people fact checking to keep it accurate.

I am fumbling around trying to see how it works and I fit in.

We don't actually have a group of people fact checking, but everyone who contributes to the tree as a whole signs our Honor Code and we strive for accuracy and backing up data items with source references.

There is a commitment to accuracy here. You can't just change the information on me or people I knew personally. Sometimes people are in so much of a hurry to add people to their tree, they overlook things. I have my tree offline to protect it from these kinds of things. I am happy to contribute, I just want what I know to be accurate kept accurate.
