"Uncle Ollie" was born at a time when his father made changes in his occupation and home. Those changes included moves from Indiana to Denton, Texas and to Ashley, North Dakota. Sometime after their father's death, Oliver and his brother moved to Page County, Iowa, probably because of their connection to their maternal grandfather, William Payton.
As an adult he farmed in Page County, Iowa, not far from his brother. The men married sisters (Borthwick).
