Patsey Kelynack was born on 16 Mar 1871 and christened on 4 Oct 1871 at the Weslyan Methodist in Newlyn, Cornwall, England.^[1] Her parents were Thomas Kelynack and Patsey Chirgwin. Her sibling was

In the 1871 census she lived with her mother and sibling in the household of Martin Chirgwin, her uncle and his family including her mother Patsey Chirgwin. She was Martin's granddaughter.^[2] In the 1881 census she lived in Clifton Terrace, Penzance in the household of her uncle Richard Harvey, his wife Mary and their children Mary and Emily. She was 10 years old.^[3] In 1891 census she lived with her mother and sibling in the household of William Henry Kelynack and his daughter Elizabeth M at 6 Mount View Tce Jack Lane.
