David was born in 1895. He was the son of Robert Keith-Johnston and Jessie MacFie. He was baptized 25 May 1895 at St. Andrew's Church, Willesden, Middlesex.[1] He attended Felsted School, a public school in Essex.
David was a Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Air Service. He was killed in action on 10 August 1915 at the age of 20 at Ostend, Germany. His remains were buried at Ramscappelle Road Military Cemetery.[2]
Brothers Killed.[3] Flight-Lieutenant David Keith Johnston, R.N.A.S. (killed in action at Ostend in August), was gazetted in May this year. Sub-Lieutenant (probationary) Macfie Keith Johnston, R.N.A.S. (accidentally killed on September 12), was the brother of Lieutenant David Keith Johnston. David and Macfie were the eldest and youngest sons of Mr and Mrs Keith Johnston of Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire.
