Daughter of John Kaiser and Elizabeth Gessner.
Married Roland C. Stemmer 15 Jun 1950 in Mukilteo, Snohomish County, Washington.[1]
Mother of Dee Dee Oen and Roland Stemmer Jr.
Isabelle attended the Rosehill School in Mukilteo. The Historical Society has photos of her in a class group, and performing in an operetta, "Melidotte," in 1928.
Isabelle was trained as an American Red Cross lifeguard. She loved to swim. As a young girl, she swam from Mukilteo to Hat Island, accompanied by friends in a rowboat.
"While attending the University of Washington, Stemmer competed in synchronized swimming. She received her master’s degree at Columbia University in New York and taught high school English and physical education, then journalism and English at what is now Everett Community College."
"Her pace barely slowed as she raised three children at the family home in Old Town Mukilteo, was a Cub Scout leader and volunteered at St. Mary Magdalen School in Everett."
"She received her first communion at the St. John Mission church in Mukilteo, was married there, and the church was the scene of her funeral service. Stemmer had a key to the church, and for decades unlocked the doors and turned on the heat for the 9 a.m. Sunday service."
She used to sit with her friend Masako Yamamoto and watch trains go by.
She was good friends with Tude (Zahler) Richter and Thelma Kane. [2]
Stemmer was preceded in death by her husband, Roland, in 1999; sons Lance in 2001 and Roland in 2005; and brother Jim Kaiser in 2003.
