Biography

Volga German
Margaretha (Kaer) Georg was a Volga German.
Margaretha (Kaer) Georg has German Roots.

Family #25 in the 1767 Norka census.

Anna Margaretha was born about 1753 in the Isenburg, Germany area. [1] Her place of birth is based on where the family said it was from in Russian immigration documents. Her actual place of birth may differ, once we identify her German birth record. She was traveling with her husband, Peter, and her young son, Johann Ludwig. [2]

By 1775, she and her husband had three children: [3]

  • Ludwig, born 1762
  • Andreas, born 1768
  • Christina, for 1772

They had another daughter, Anna Maria, born in 1776, just after the 1775 census. Anna Maria married before 1798 to Nikolaus Hardt, making her one of the Volga German women who is not listed in a census record with her birth family. [4]

According to the 1798 Norka census, her last name at birth was Kaer. [5] Allowing for editing errors, transcribers have suggested her surname may have actually been Geier. [6]
