Spouses: First Husband: Private Leon L. Gionet reported Killed in Action in Liacotico, Italy on 13 July 1944. He served in the United States Army as an Infantryman. He resided at 108 Third Street in Leominster with his wife prior to entering the service. He is buried in Shirley, Massachusetts. He is survived by his widow Rena M. Brideau. He was awarded the Combat Infantry badge, the Purple Heart Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Leon Louis Gionet (1920 - 1944)

Obituary

Rena M. (Joyal) Brideau, 88, of Leominster, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011, at Life Care Center of Leominster after short illness. Rena was born in 1922, the daughter of Joseph & Matilda Joyal. She was a lifelong resident of Leominster. Her husband Leon Gionet, a member of the 351st Infantry, who was killed in Italy in 1944, predeceased her. Her second husband, Francis Brideau, passed away in 1984. She is survived by her step-daughter, Fran Oyler of West Palm Beach, Fla., her grandchildren, Leslie Anne Oyler-Shapiro of California, Michelle Rene Oyler-Kirschner and Bradley James Fransic Oyler of Florida; her great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Preston, Emily and Ashley Kirschner of Florida; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Yvonne Laddin, Antoinette LeClerc, Irene Belmore, Raymond Joyal and Rita Abbott.
