Biography

Henry Clay Jones married Mary Elizabeth Fisher in Baltimore, MD around 1856 when she was only 16. She quickly had 1 daughter and 3 sons. Somewhere before 1860, Henry worked for US Fire and Marine as an insurance agent. Somewhere around 1878, he became a merchant tailor, eventually forming a company with his son, John Sirich Jones, called Henry C Jones and son. Another son, Henry Clay Jones Jr, also worked there as a cigarmaker.

The birth and death Date come from Find A Grave. I have a few questions on this reference and have requested a review of the tombstone because the reference shows Henry G Jones instead of Henry C Jones. But his parents and siblings also appear to be buried here.

Finally, research from the Baltimore City Directories shows him consistently showing up in the jobs listed above. His last listing is 1902 which supports his death date given when the directory needed to be published.
