Biography

Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas Jones and his wife Jane of Llansantffraid Glyn Ceiriog, Denbighshire, Wales.[1] She was born about 1742.[2]

She married John Evans on 6 February 1763 in Llansantffraid Glyn Ceiriog, Denbighshire. The parish register records "John Evans of the Parish of Llansantffraid G. C. and Eliz: Jones of [the sd?] Parish". She and her husband both signed their names and the witnesses were Morris Evans and Evan Edwards.[3]

On 5 February 1763, the day before their marriage, a marriage settlement was signed between the two families. The parties to the settlement included the groom, described as John Evans, gent, of Bache, Llangollen; his mother Anne and her husband Morris Thomas, gent, of Bache; the bride. Elizabeth Jones, spinster, of Llansanffraid Glyn Ceiriog; and her parents Thomas Jones, gent, of Llansanffraid Glyn Ceiriog. and Jane, his wife. The trustees were John Wynne, gent, and Edward Jones, gent, both of Llansanffraid Glyn Ceiriog, and they held on trust messuages and lands in the townships of Bache and Vivod, Llangollen, Denbighshire, and in Corwen, Merionethshire.[1]

She was buried on 28 February 1814 in Pontfadog, Denbighshire. She was entered in the burial register as "Elizabeth Evans, wife of John Evans, Farmer, [Abode] Bachau, 28th Febry, [Age] 72."[2]
