Ann (Jones) Dugdale lost her son in the Astley Deep Pit Colliery Explosion on 14-Apr-1874

Ann Jones was born in Wales in 1818.

24 Mar 1856 St Mary's, Oldham, Lancashire - marriage of John Dugdale, 32, widower, and Ann Williams, 36, widow, daughter of Robert Jones [1]

1861 Dukinfield, Cheshire - John Dugdale, 35, linker in coal pit, wife Ann Dugdale, 42, children William (7), Edward (5), Robert (2) + 4 boarders [2] William must be son of John's first marriage

Her husband and sons worked in coal mines. In 1874 Robert, the younger son, was killed in an explosion at the Astley Deep Pit mine.

Research Notes

Although the Transcription of the 1871 census says Brombs, it is of the mining village of Brymbo, pronounced Brumbo, over the border from Flintshire. A correction has been sent for the census transcription.
