Mary Etta Johnson was born to John Edgar Johnson and Laura Sidona Wood in 1886. They lived at Rock Dundar and she spent her whole life in the Morton Ontario area.
Mary Etta Johnson was born on April 22, 1886, daughter of John Edgar Johnson and Laura Cindona Wood. Her brother, Harry (William Henry Johnson) was born on June 16, 1896. The family lived at Morton, on the Rock Dunder farm. Rock Dunder is a spectacular granite rock formation just south of Morton near Whitefish Lake. Mary Etta also went to school at The Pimple in Morton.
Mary Etta was very much interested in Christian Education; she had received a Diploma from The Presbyterian Church in Christian Education before she was married; and for many years she was the Superintendent of Morton Sunday School.
George Roantree and Mary Etta Johnson were married at Addison, on February 24, 1909. The officiating minister was the Rev. John A. McDonald. Cousins of the bride and groom, Lena Wiltse and Lester Freeman, were the witnesses to the marriage.
The church which George and Etta Roantree had attended all their lives was very close to their home, and they were its caretakers. [1]
