Brooks Montgomery Johnson was born about 1853 in Burlington, Lawrence County, Ohio. He was the son of Bellfield Johnson and Mary Reed.^[1][2] He grew up in Fayette Township, Lawrence County, Ohio.^[1][3]

Brooks married Mary Frances Terry on 12 May 1877 in Lawrence County, Ohio.^[4] They had a large family and lived in Fayette Township, Lawrence County, Ohio.^[5][6]

Brooks married Nettie Johnson on 1 Dec 1895 in Lawrence County, Ohio.^[7] They continued to live in Fayette Township, Lawrence County, Ohio.^[6] His wife Nettie died in 1909 from childbirth complications after delivering stillborn twin boys.^[8][9] After her death, Brooks continued to live in Fayette Township and did not marry again.^[10][11][12]

Brooks died on 12 Apr 1937 in Fayette Township, Lawrence County, Ohio.^[2]
