Biography

James was born about 1794. He enlisted in the Honourable East India Company St Helena Regiment 5 Jan 1812 and arrived on Saint Helena[1] in 1813 on board the ship 'Union'.

Alarm House; 1855 hired accommodation in Jamestown; NB could have been James Johnson, not John Johns(t)on of the Artillery?, Family 9 children, Pension Recommendation, & Responsible Officer, Notes & Remarks James, Thomas and John Johnstone all likely the same person. 1 Feb 1838 in the Invalid Muster. Died 6 Apr 1857.

26 May 1842 - HEI Company Invalid James Johnson married Anne Samuel at Longwood Chapel.
