Biography

This profile is part of the St Helens, Lancashire One Place Study.

William Johnson was born in 1839 in Eccleston, Lancashire. He was the son of Richard and Agnes Johnson.

By June 6th 1841, the family were living in Sandy Lane, Eccleston. Richard was a labourer.

William's father died in 1844 in Prescot district; his age was recorded as 23.

William's mother married Thomas Johnson on 16 Dec 1849 at St Thomas' Church in Eccleston, Lancashire.

By March 30th 1851, William and his sister were living with his maternal grandparents in Parr; his mother and stepfather and their other children (including those from the stepfather's previous marriage) were also in Parr, but in a separate household.
