My uncle did a lot of research regarding my family on my dad side. He didn´t have any computer so he travelled around and talked to a lot of people and visited priests in churches all around. When he died an aunt took the papers and with a typewriter tried to put togher some useful information. I got my hands on the file and as I was interested in building databases I thought I could structure the information even more. I was lucky and found that there already was a lot of databases ready to use on the Net so I tried a couple of them. Suddenly I went curious about the facts I put in to the database – could this be true? What happened then? And so on. So, since about 10 years I have done research on my own and to day I have a big database of my ancestors and their descendants.
I live in Sweden and my family comes mostly from the south west of Örebro län and north east of Skaraborgs län (or Västra Götalands län) and the parish of Snavlunda, Askersund, Tived and Undenäs. I use Ancstry, ArkivDigital and Svar to find my information. I also has a number of CD/DVD to help me.

Hittade en av dina profiler när jag behövde några att befolka Ingarö socken med. Brukar kika på profilerna för aktiva svenskar som jag träffar på. Gillar din introduktion. Alltid intressant att höra hur folk började med släktforskningen.
We've made a change in how the tutorials are sent to new members. Instead of weekly messages you can now work at your own pace.
How is it going so far? Was the first page of the How-Tos helpful or did it leave you with questions?
Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

You may have been hard at work adding family members and getting connected to those that are already here. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now. So, this week we're going to look at how to work with your Watchlist: How to Manage Your Watchlist.
As always, your questions are welcome!

You've been here for several weeks now. We hope your profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know all of us a little better.
You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.
As always, your questions are welcome

This week, we'd like to show you How to Join in the Community. There's no shortage of opportunities to get involved through social media, our forum, and projects.
Be sure to check out the One Name Studies Project to see if anyone has started a project for one of the surnames in your family. Don't see one? Follow the instructions for starting your own!
Please let me know if you have questions. :-) If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.
Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy
You've been here a week now, and we hope you enjoyed your first stop on your guided tour of WikiTree and were able to make good use of the things you learned.
Our next stop will give you some pointers on how to make your profiles stand out: How to Edit a Profile.
As always, your questions are welcome!

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles.
It looks like Sweden Project would be a good fit with the tag you entered. Leader: Lena (Johansson) Svensson. After you sign up for this project, add its recommended tag also to your tags, to help you get updates about activity for that project.
If you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

I'm a member of the Mentor project, and I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Do you have any questions I can help you with?

Thanks for completing the tag indicating you wish to research/document your family history. You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members.
As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.
Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.
Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.
You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: Do you have a French connection?
Great to have you on board and good luck growing your branches.
Ludwig :)
A warm welcome to the WikiTree family! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site youve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!
What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research youd like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, youll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.
Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and youll be on your way!
Were really glad youre here. More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.
Ludwig :)
