Obituary

Victor F. Jirousek, age 91, of Faribault, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at his home following a short illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Faribault Area Hospice in memory of Victor.

Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.

Victor Frank, the son of Frank and Matilda (Kubicek) Jirousek, was born on May 29, 1923 in Owatonna, MN. Vic attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1940. After high school Vic worked for the Nutting Truck and Caster Company and then went on to attended Dunwoody Institute and earned his Associates Degree as a Draftsman. As a Draftsman he worked for Waters and Connelly in Rochester, MN until he was called to serve in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and upon his return began a 37 year career with Western Electric as a Installation Supervisor. He retired in 1984. On July 27, 1946 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Fleckenstein at the Immaculate Conception Church Parish House. Phyllis preceded him in death on June 26, 2014. Vic enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the gatherings they would host at their home on Cannon Lake. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching birds and building Martin houses, and watching sports on TV.

He is survived by two children, Jim (Carol) Jirousek of Blair, NE and Annette (Brian) Anderson of Mankato, MN; by two grandchildren, Sarah (Rod) Brandenburgh of Acworth, GA and Paul Anderson of Mankato, MN; by three great grandchildren, Heather, Duncan and Max Brandenburgh; by his brother, Arthur (Myrliss) Jirousek of Burnsville, MN and by special nieces, Christine Moll and Carol McCarthy and nephew, Rick Crawford and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter, Vicki St. Lucas, by his sisters, Elsie, Tillie, Clara, Edith, Evelyn, Amy, Gerry and his brother Edward. [1]
