Some researchers indicate that Lovey Jernigan was the last of Kedar Jernigan's children by his second wife, who was unknown by some reports, and place Lovie's birth in Wayne County. Only children by Kedar's third or final wife were named in his will. These are collections that have few clear-cut sources, but we may have enough to at least warrant preliminary attachment of this profile for Lovie Jernigan as a daughter of Kedar Jernigan (ca. 1768-1844) by his second wife:

Her maiden name, Jernigan, appears on a headstone.[1]
Particularly of note: Lovie Jernigan, daughter of Kedar Jernigan, married Lemon Handley Lee. They lived in Sampson County, North Carolina.[2]
Biography
Loveda "Lovey" H Jernigan was born about 20 Apr 1810, possibly in Wayne or Sampson, North Carolina (one record appears to name Lee Cemetery, Dunn, Sampson, North Carolina; presumptively the burial location).[3]
Several death records offer proof of Lovie's maiden name, Jernigan:
Lovie Jernigan and Lemon Lee are named as the parents of Julius E Lee, who died 14 Nov 1918 in Mingo, Sampson, North Carolina.[4]
She is also named as Lovie Jernigan, the mother of Lovie (Lee) Draughon, who died 2 May 1923, also in Mingo.[5]
Lovie Jernigan was named as the parent of Kizzia (Lee) Jackson, who died 2 Jun 1924 in Mingo.[6]
Lovie is named in the death record for daughter Martha J (Lee) Jackson, who died 18 Sep 1924, Sampson County.[7]

Julius E Lee[2][13][15] who married Mary Ann McPhail, daughter of David and Margaret McPhail, 5 Feb 1874 in Cumberland, North Carolina[17] who died 14 Nov 1918[4]
Lunda Lee (1854-1917)[2] Lee[13][15] who married Nancy McPhail 30 Apr 1875 in Cumberland County[18]Lovie and her husband Lemon, were head of household in 1880 at which time Lunda and his spouse Nancy E (McPhail) Lee and their two daughters were in the household[19]
While her husband predeceased her in 1885, she died Jun 1887 in Sampson, North Carolina.[20]
