Wrigdon was born in 1824 in Wayne County, North Carolina. Wrigdon Jernigan was the son of Arthur Alford Jernigan (1794–1857) and Sarah Ann Howell Jernigan (1804–1884).
He first married Martha Howell Jernigan (1831–1862) on January 28, 1848. [1] He is listed with Martha on the 1850 Census in Hardeman County with one child; Mary. [2] On the 1860 Census the couple are residing in the same location with a total of five children and the known children from the marriage of Wrigdon and Martha are listed below:
After Martha's death he was remarried on December 21, 1864 to Ailsey "Elsie" Jane Howell Jernigan (1834–1923). [7] It is believed that Wrigdon and Ailsey had five children based on the information she listed on the 1880 Census; [8] they are listed below:
He passed away at the age of 53 in 1878. He is buried in Hatchie Cemetery in Hornsby, Hardeman County, Tennessee. [14]
